This safety spectacle re-design provides schools with a cost saving solution to the damage inflicted by heavy usage on a regular basis.

 

The spectacles feature an innovative mechanism that allows additional protective lenses to rotate between two positions. When the spectacles are in-use, the protective lenses sit by the side of the face to provide the wearer with additional lateral protection from flying objects. When the spectacles are removed and the legs are folded, the protective lenses automatically rotate to cover the spectacle lens, therefore protecting the lens from scratches and abrasions.

 

This is one of four concept proposals completed as a module during my final year at the University of Huddersfield 2016/2017.
