This retort stand re-design drastically improves usability for school children and also meets modern requirements for space saving equipment with cost-saving ability.

 

The ribbed retort and clamp rods, combined with the spring loaded boss, enable faster set-up times and easy alterations so that more time can be spent learning rather than assembling. The spring loaded boss, combined with the new method of securing glassware in position within the clamp, helps to prevent damage to equipment caused by overtightening. The retort stand also provides a great space saving solution as the rod can be easily collapsed to minimise wasted space when not in use.

 

This is one of four concept proposals completed as a module during my final year at the University of Huddersfield 2016/2017.
